The Attentive Traveler – Food Review – Edley’s Bar-B-Que – Nashville, Tennessee – January 2023

Bottom Line – Make sure you add this to your itinerary for your next visit to Nashville!

Too many of us simply eat near the neon or perhaps in the gultch during our stays in Nashville. But if you have a car (and even if you don’t) – get your self to Edley’s.

Edley’s is family owned and operated by its founders – Will & Catharine Newman. The first location was opened in 2011. They now have three locations in Nashville and one in Chattanooga. It’s been recognized by publications such as Southern Living, USA Today, and Garden & Gun. It’s been awarded best BBQ in Nashville for four years by the readers of the Nashville Scene.

The website speaks of the lack of shortcuts in the kitchen. The meat is smoked low and slow using Southern white oak. The sides are made daily from scratch. As seen in the first picture, there is also a full bar to fit your mood when presented with the real goods.

For me… it just felt like a PBR night. I can’t recall when I had my previous one… but it was too long. 🙂

Give this place a try. I think you’ll like it. I’ll close with one last thing from their website – their “Southern Soul” Some might call it a mission statement. But I liked it:

Gutsy – We are doers who do whatever it takes.

Responsible – We are relentless on standards and kind on people.

Impassioned – We are passionate that Edley’s be the best.

Thoughtful – We treat our guests and team members like family, and help them celebrate memorable moments.

Pretty cool, huh?
