While turning for home from Florida, we decided to take in a few sights in Georgia. Our first stop was the National Prisoner of War Museum, which is just outside of Andersonville, Georgia.
This site was a bit of surprise. We planned on seeing the infamous Andersonville Prison sight… we had not idea that this Museum existed.
Incredibly bad conditions.. very poorly planned out prison. Was only open for a short period of time… but such an incredible loss of life.
Outside, there is a nice little courtyard that overlooks the vast Andersonville site.
We are really glad to have discovered this little museum. It helped set the stage for the actual Andersonville site. More on that in our next post…
