The Attentive Traveler – Italy Adventure 2023 – Venice – Where we slept

Hotels in Venice can be tricky to locate. Google Maps tends to choke on Venetian addresses. Rick Steves suggests using the website Venicexplorer.net

Many hotels in central Venice are in historic buildings. The rooms tend to be small… and there are often stairs. That was the case in all of Italy.

We stayed at the Hotel Campiello (www.hcampiello.it). It was once part of a 19th-century convent.

It is ideal located – about 50 yards off the waterfront on a tiny square. It offers 16 rooms – and is a tranquil, friendly retreat for travelers close to the main attractions of Venice but away from the hustle and bustle.

It does have an elevator – but it is a small one – again the norm in Italy.

Not as nice as some of our digs in Italy – but you could not beat the location.
