One our first evening in York, after settling into our hotel for the new few days, we wandered over for a delightful dinner at the Cafe No. 8
Cafe No. 8 is a romantic and modern little bistro. They have tables in front or in a sunroom. They also have a nice shaded little garden that would be nice during a nice day or if the weather is good in the evening.
Chef Chris Pragnell uses what’s fresh in the market to shape his simple, elegant and creative modern British menu.
I started with the pan fried queen scallops, topped by North Sea prawns, roast garlic butter and garlic toast.
I then followed it up with the char-grilled fillet steak, with slow roasted heritage tomatoes.
Jackie enjoyed the Pan-fried sea bass, Whitby crab, avocado, fennel & blood orange salad, Jersey Royal potatoes, and saffron mayo.
Repeat after us… life is too short to not have dessert… Looks like Jackie had the White and dark Belgian chocolate truffle, honeycomb, orange and Campari sorbet. I had the Yorkshire rhubarb & creamy mascarpone merringue, parkin ice cream and toasted almonds. Very very yum!
