The Attentive Traveler – Restaurant Review – Hmong Golden Egg Roll – September 2022

I am a pretty picky eater. So is Jackie. We have to be introduced to a new food or spice carefully…

So when we were told to visit the Hmong Golden Egg roll a few years back, we did so reluctantly. We were interested since our friends told us that it was one of the few places in our small town where we would be in the minority while eating there – often there are as many people of hmong decent as anglo. So we gave it a chance.

I must admit that I fell in love almost immediately with the Pho. As seen above, it is a Ramen noodle dish, with a light beef broth. It includes shredded beef, sliced sausage, green onions and other spices. The incredible key is that other ingredients are brought out that you can add – sprouts, Jalapenos, dried garlic, beef paste, chili paste, hoisen, and other hot sauces. Each individual can tailor the Pho to their own personal tastes. It is beyond incredible!

Jackie prefers the egg rolls (also fantastic!!) and their fried rice. And whatever is in that pink sauce is beyond wonderful as well. We often will bring home a box of egg rolls and the pink sauce and warm them up in the oven to enjoy on weekend afternoons as a snack.

If you are in the La Crosse area – you will not go wrong to give the Hmong Golden Egg roll a try!
