Climbing out of the Betws-y-Coed valley, the road enters the village of Capel Curig. Most visitors peel off towards Beddgelert or Llanberis. But Rick Steves suggested that we keep going through the village to the just-as-dramatic, less touristed Ogwen Valley – a gorgeous glacial groove filled by the Lake called Llyn Ogwen. So we did. 🙂
The surrounding mountains are peppered with stone walls, stray sheep, and lonely farms.
It is an evocative valley… and the low clouds of the valley only magnified this effect.
