Session 2 of our Trip to England/Scotland/Wales – A look at some key tools/decisions to make before beginning to set the itinerary for an International Trip.
In this video, we’ll review the following key items to complete on your pre-travel checklist:
- How much time do you have for this trip? What restrictions might you have?
- What are your “Must Sees'”
- Why this location? Why at this time? What is the purpose of this pleasure travel?
- Are you a free-spirit… a little or no planning traveler? Or are you a structured traveler who turns to prophets/Saints to help you craft your itinerary?
- What Type of Traveler are you? (courtesy of Itnery.com)
- Collector?
- Conformer?
- Thrill Seeker?
- Survivor?
- Self-Improvement?
- Pilgrim?
- Pioneer?
- Occasionally?
- Unforgettable?
- Inquisitive?
Or perhaps a little of a few of the above?
The Collector –
An experienced hunter-gatherer, a unique and exotic hoarder. However, it is not an endangered species or looted antiquities. These travelers carry a cannon or a purely figurative whip, or rather a butterfly net, and he shakes it in one way or another to collect unusual experiences in remote places. Once captured, these will be meticulously remembered and proudly displayed in conversation. I’ve got a little bit of this in me.
The person who conforms to the rules
A gloomy general type. These travelers follow the rules not for personal satisfaction but social acceptance and may even find their personal satisfaction in social acceptance. Destinations are selected from a limited, unimaginative, and often class-determined guest menu. Does not mean a snobbish thing… it applies to the whole of society. The key is not where you’ve been but what your peers think about where you’ve been.
The Thrillseeker
There are not many types of adventure sports, and of course, there are also fools who are willing to tie their bones to a rubber tape and jump off the bridge or anything else.
Survivor
Escape from familiar things. These travelers are funny folks who work under the most pleasant delusion… any boredom, worry, pain, guilt, fear, failure, conflict, and reflection in the mirror will disappear with the distance.
Self-Improvement
He/She is admirable, but a bit boring. Get up early, leave late, and happily take advantage of what the new place has to offer. The physical strength is impressive. Much research can be done in advance, many books will be packed, and more will be brought in.. the second cousin of…
Pilgrim
Trails, visits to religious shrines, etc. Off the beaten path… even in a well traveled town. I’ve got a little of this in me as well.
Pioneer
Almost extinct in the wild. Like most endangered species, the habitat of the pioneer is running out, as it has been pioneered out in most parts of the world. Sometimes a collector with a good dose of Zen…
Occasionally
Going to an event, a honeymoon, a job, or an event for some reasons.
Unforgettable
The saddest kind of traveler. The person who is not paying attention and has no interest in where you are. This sort of travelers are not very popular.
Inquisitive
Might I say attentive…:-) Has wide-open eyes, ears, and mind. Rare, precious, and beautiful. What I aspire to be.
