For our stay in Florence, we chose a hotel in the sleepy zone near the Ponte Vecchio. This area has several sights and some fine shopping streets… though it’s accordingly pricey and lacks a neighborhood feel of its own. We chose the Hotel Davanzati.
We were in Suite 103. The Hotel Davanzati is bright and shiny, with many artistic touches.
There are 23 cheerful rooms with all the comforts.
The hotel is a family affair, thoughtfully run by friendly Tommaso and father Fabrizio, who offer drinks and snacks each evening at their candlelit happy hour, plus lots of other extras.
Each room has mini iPads equipped with mobile data and air conditioning.
You will climb some stairs to get to the main elevator – about 20 steep steps to get to a landing with the elevator.
We loved the location – out the front door… turn right… walk to the corner and turn left and you are walking down some of the best shopping in Florence on the way to the Duomo.
Prices are always subject to change based on the season, availability, etc. During our visit in mid May of 2023, we paid a bit more than $200 a night
